Dear Kenwood Customer: Thank you for your e-mail. Programming the TM-271A in 5 easy steps. 1. Push VFO button enter frequency (example 146.670) 2. For PL/Encode to function you must have a T showing in the display. Press the F button now press the the TONE/CALL button until a T apperars in the display 3. Now you may select a TONE by pressing the F button, NOW press the MENU/MAIN TUNING KNOB until menu display appears, turn the main tuning knob to MENU 2. The 2 will be flashing, now press the MENU/MAIN TUNING KNOB until the tone frequency starts to flash. Turn the main tuning knob to desired TONE ( example 103.5 ) to store it press the MENU/MAIN TUNING KNOB until it stops flashing. You may now exit the MENU feature by pressing the F button. 4. Putting all this information into memory, push the F (function) button, and the number will appear on the right side of the display flashing. Turn the main tuning knob to the desired memory of your choice. Immediately push MR button to store all the information into memory. 5.
